WEAPONS PROGRAM

The big announcement is our new WEAPONS PROGRAM. We will offer family classes in both the Okinawan and Filipino weapons arts. The WEAPONS PROGRAM is a separate program from Kenpo and Jujitsu. You can upgrade to this elite training curriculum by contacting me or the business office.

Our current Okinawan Weapons class is for adults and meets on Tuesday. There are several students who have trained in weapons for over a year. We have received requests to teach this curriculum to students of all ages and have made a decision to the expand the curriculum and increase class times.

The classes are non-contact class - - very safe - - and I think you will find they will enrich your training in Kenpo Karate. We will meet three times each week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and alternate between the Okinawan and Filipino systems. I will publish the schedule in the next couple of weeks.

The traditional Okinawan Weapons include the classical kata and applications for Bo (staff), Tonfa and Sai. There are seven weapons in all and you will progress through each weapon over time as you advance in skill.

Arnis is from the Philippines and is practiced all over the world. Our friends in Colorado, Texas and Leavenworth have very active programs for kids and adults. Students of all ages enjoy practicing the drills and this exciting, fast paced class will prove to be one of your favorites.

You will see that most classes are available for all ranks. Some classes are designed for specific skill levels or concentrate on one subject.

Okinawan Weapons training is a separate course. Check with the business office for details.

Equipment for Sparring Class:
You will need hand/foot gear, groin protector, chest protector, headgear, shin guards and a mouthpiece. (all approved gear is available for sale in the Lenexa Karate Academy’s pro shop).
